Sharing you some of the artworks that I'm interested from Tate collection on a Friday afternoon. No eras and art forms are categorised. You can explore the artworks by clicking the names.

I'm going to do a Q&A post soon so please leave me any questions, even the most random and weirdest ones.

Tassels On Feet

TASSEL SLIDERS -- WHAT YOU NEED IN SUMMER 2017

About two months ago, I shared an April wishlist on my blog listing five of my favourite items on Yoins. Surprisingly, Yoins sent me a very fetching gift which is a pair of tassel sliders shoes

 SHAKE THE TASSELS!
The highlight of the slippers is the combination of multi-coloured tassels popping in the white background . These slippers are comfortably "slip-on-and-go" and the tassels are enchantingly cute accessories for your feet. Plus, these slider slippers also work in rainy seasons if you're afraid of wearing flip flops. The "alike-wooden" sole gives you a formal look that can be easily styled with any outfits. I styled a loose grey blouse, a pair of blue boyfriend jeans and a straw handbag. This outfit is too enough for going out in the afternoon for a cup of coffee or a movie. Or you can just simply lie on the couch in splendid slippers, shake the tassels and enjoy a good series on Netflix, Mad Men for instance.

Seventeen Again

I was seventeen in these photos, taken by Tien Bui. Seventeen is different from eighteen, and nineteen and even sixteen and a half. I knew people who deserve to be around, to forget, to ignore and to love. Nineteen, I realised what I have been doing then decided to stop or to continue, or, just started a new track. I didn't have to look gracious in what mum bought, I knew how to make myself look gracious in my own way. Seventeen, I was still a nerd finding 'x' in a math class, looking terrifying in glasses and writing shitty poems on rainy days in high school. Eighteen, all of a sudden, more people called me pretty, something I had only heard from my mum, my sister or besties. Did my eyes get deeper, my mouth get wider and my teeth suddenly get brighter, than when I was seventeen? All of a sudden, people listened to me, paid attention to what I said and asked me for my opinions. Mum would go home and tell me about her friends, her day at work or anything she just gossiped, which she used to only tell my sister and dad. Dad would talk to me about politics that he hardly knows that I don't agree with most of his opinions. Did my words become either sweeter or sassier? I am still wondering why people wouldn't do this to me earlier. Like, is it really true that our minds work maturely or our believes become valuable once we hit our eighteenth birthday? Nineteen, I had to listen to what it is like to be in the adulthood - scary as fuck.

I still enjoy doing weird shit when I'm home although I look like a 5 year old kid trying to tease a monkey at the zoo. I guess I haven't changed much. Nonetheless, I started caring about social movements and human rights. I pay attention to how I look in public. Am I old enough to tolerate socialisation alone? (thanks mum and other adults for helping me out previously!).  Socialising is still a nightmare but I guess I have to do it sometimes. I'm still unsure if people like me or not. Or if they are genuinely nice to me. So I think I'm old enough to take a deep look about things that I'm interested, for example, fast fashion. So I have done a project called Fast Fashion & Identities as an exploration of Asian popular culture. If you're interested enough feel free to read it :).

I'm moving to the 20s and not so ready to take my life seriously. I just want to tease the monkey at the zoo. It's weird when I have to take these responsibilities all of a sudden. How did you manage to suffer all of this?

It's gonna be May

#TBT to the end of last month when I took these photos. It's irony how these s look so luxurious with marbles and lightings that were taken in a toilet of a hotel. One living tip: never trust coffee at fancy hotels - they are very stingy in caffeine.  So my nanny took me to a place called Opera Restaurant and they served skimmed milk with coffee flavour - tremendous!

I just realised that my hair has been this short for a long time. I hate this length and I miss my long hair. I haven't worn red lipstick for a while because they make my lips look small and cute. But as my outfit is so dark I want my lips to be bold, small and cute.

I have been busy and a lot of thoughts have been on my mind. I forgot to publish this post though I wrote this a month ago. I'm sorry!

It's gonna be May! Wishing you all a great month!

April 2017 Wishlist

A quick share of my wish list on Yoins - an online apparel website in Hong Kong. I have been obsessed with bows and tassel (tassel - yay or nay?). I love wearing basic neutral tops and bottoms, so it's essential to have a bold pair of shoes to highlight my feet. Talking about the woven bag, woven reminds me of those beach days embracing the cool air from the wind and the sea. I need a vacation ASAP! And denim jacket is basically 'a must' in your closet and I haven't got one yet.

What's on your wishlist?

A quick life update: two presentations this week.

Capturing The Sun

Spotted the sunlight ray at 4:00 PM on the wall while waiting for uber, captured it with my face. Someone told me: "The sun doesn't like you". I believe that's not true.
#nofilter

How's your March going? Mine's going pretty well except my swollen toe. My mind is busy learning and falling in love as usual. I suffered a mini crisis on social media but everything is getting better again. I lost a pair of earrings, which is sad.

I go to bed pretty late recently, around 1 or 2am, then wake up around 11am. My cat is fine, my dog is fine. Sometimes I'm not sure if I can write blog posts anymore because you see, this sucks. I barely have a decent topic. Anyway, let's just consider this as a mini life update.

I hope you guys don't miss me too much. And the sun does like you. Trust me.

What's In My Bag - School Edition

I always need big bags as my everyday bags because I carry a lot of things with me. This is one of my bags which is from Accessorize and I've been using it for two years.
1. Phone - very important
2. Gadget pouch - where I keep other essentials (scroll down to see what's inside)
3. Sunnies - bought 'em from Topshop
4. Hand gel - you know you need your hands to be less smelly. It is proven that hand gel does not efficiently decontaminate your hands so I don't use it much if there's soap around.
5. Pencil case - made from yam in Myanmar and it is a gift from 'the good friend'. Inside: a blue ballpoint pen, a black pen, a highlighter, a pencil, lead refill and an eraser
6. Notebook - where I take notes
7. Wallet - bought it from Accessorize as well. Inside: cash, cards and some personal information. By the way, I'm looking for a smaller wallet because this one takes too much space.
8. Umbrella - just in case it rains - you never know
9. Earphones
10. Tissue
11. Bottle of water
12. Keys

Sometimes I carry my laptop with me if needed.
Oh! And a lunchbox too!
Also some bus tickets.

What's in my gadget pouch?
(I bought this pouch from Kikki K in their Lilac & Gold collection)

1. Some bandages  - just in case I have paper cuts or small injuries
2. Some pills - digestive pill, allergy pills and some panadol
3. Eye drops
4. Mirror - I stole the almost-finished Channel blush compact from my sister and used it as the mirror. She took it back :(
5. Lipsticks - a M.A.C (Cremesheen - On Hold) and a Givenchy (Le Rouge À Porter - 206 Corail Decolletà)
6. Lipbalm from My Bee Natural, it moisturise your lips very well and it smells so sweet
7. Dental floss

Eargasm: Tennis

A few days ago I incidentally discovered a music band called Tennis (please check out this link as well) - an American indie pop band. They give me (a 90's kid) a nostalgia of the 70's era that I have never experienced before. Their rhythm, sounds, and vocals are so pleasing. Their visuals, videos, concepts are more than aesthetic - something I utterly reblog on Tumblr. The band includes two members - Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley who are husband and wife duo. There must have been tremendously bewitching moments to Alaina and Patrick when they first met in a philosophy class, fell in love, started a band after a sailing expedition and got married. In an interview with The Huffington Post, the inspiration that led them to this style of music was the song Baby It's You by The Shirelles, which was played in a bar while they were on their sailing voyage. How much aesthetic do you see?

Someone on Youtube commented:"Didn't know Ferris Bueller's sister had a band". It took me 5 days to get over my confusion.

(Can we just spend a moment to compliment her hair?)

Check out the infomercial of their new album 'Yours Conditionally' - too good to be true

These are what I have been listening to in the past weeks. Enjoy!

Repeat or Repulse

A round of applause for a new month of the year - the second most beautiful month of the year. What I have done so far is starting on my bullet journal - a sufficient way to control your work and time (to anyone who doesn't know what a bullet journal is, take a look here). I have been thinking of more resolutions to add to the list for this year and I do not have any specific resolutions. Other bloggers have set up 50, 70 or 100 resolutions for themselves and I only have like 5 in my head.
1. Reading more books is one of them. Not just books, but, I will read more.
2. Getting back to swimming. Perhaps I need a new swimsuit.
3. Collaborating with more brands (genuine features duh!)
4. Saving up for a new phone.
5. Reducing fast fashion and finding alternative brands for fast fashion brands (how embarrassing I am that I'm wearing a Zara jumper in my photos). (To my way of thinking, boycotting the fast fashion industry is not a feasible way to condemn a company's environmental and labour compliance. Besides, not everyone can afford designer fashion. Nonetheless, lessen the more the better.)

Resolutions are great, particularly to people who are indulging in retrospection and reevaluating some of their life choices. However, I do not want to reduplicate suggested resolutions, and I believe so do some of you. You do not have to set up common goals as everyone does. New year's resolutions do not mean you have to set up all the resolutions at the beginning of the year. If you are still having a struggle with settling your resolutions, no problemo. It's okay if you're having 0 5 10 or somewhat but not 50 70 100 goals in your mind. You can fill in the list in each stage of the year - corresponding to the circumstances. In addition, quality over quantity. A few achievable (with effort) and practical goals are better than loads of unmanageable and indistinct ones. It's similar to running a blog, it's useless when you only have blog titles without the content. So, first thing first, brainstorm ways to reach your goals - how to get courage, motivation, patience and so on.
